VocabProfessor's job is to help you learn foreign language vocabulary. It does this by allowing you to enter chapters of words or expressions from your own textbook or course notes as pairs of words, in your own language and in the language you're trying to learn. It can then test you by picking one at random and displaying it. You then have to enter its translation. If you're right, well and good. If not, it shows you the right answer before picking a different one at random. The test is over once you've got everything right once. It displays a score as you go along.
You will be surprised at how quickly you can learn large numbers of words. It's important to keep revising the words every so often, to keep them ticking over in your head. With VocabProfessor, it's easy to keep going back to words you've already learnt and refresh your memory.
VocabProfessor began life on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, under the name VocabTutor, and has existed in various forms including for Psion machines and Ewe (a Java implementation for Windows CE devices), Java ME for S60 3rd Edition and Jave SE. This version, a web application built using Google Web Toolkit, runs in any modern desktop browser.
